Key to the success of this role is having strong financial experience, being detailed oriented, providing accurate and on-time reporting, analytical support, being curious, and an understanding of the SAP Finance tool. This role will work closely with multiple business partners, both within our team and as well as with MassMutual's Finance, Tax, Financial Advisors and Events and Conference departments.To help us achieve our mission, we are hiring an Expense Consultant to join our team.The Impact:Our ideal candidate for this role has strong financial, analytical, and attention to detail skills, can work well under tight timeframes, partners with their customers to identify issues as well as process improvements, and works autonomously on daily deliverables and projects. This includes anticipating and defining business needs, developing actionable solutions/recommendations, and working with internal and external partners to coordinate activities and deliverables to drive superior results that allows MassMutual to achieve its aggressive strategic goals with innovative solutions. This role is charged with understanding and managing the financials for Corporate Travel and budgets for multiple company events, with specific attention to monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting, monthly accruals, management of several suspense accounts, tax reporting, processing of invoices, reconciling and financial problem solving.Your day to day would include and is not limited to:

  • Serve as primary contact and owner for the Corporate Travel finance processes, including daily payment processing of the corporate credit cards and understanding the feeds from our company expense reporting system to the general ledger
  • Reconcile and process invoices and monthly chargebacks for travel expenses as needed
  • Partner with customers to understand and maintain event budgets, including variance explanations and forecasting for multiple events, resolving issues, management of suspense accounts, monthly and quarterly reporting, monitoring incoming inquiries, and working to continually improve processes
  • Maintain detailed records/reports of event spend and tax reporting for individual attendee
  • Provide support to the Travel team, including ad hoc reporting utilizing the General Ledger
  • Reconcile and process daily credit card funding
  • Manage and process invoices, update budgets and actuals, and forecasting for multiple events
  • Review expense reports for event spend, following up on variances as needed.
  • Prepare monthly reports and meet with internal customers to discuss budgets, outstanding expenses, and accruals
  • Calculate and process monthly accruals for events and business areas as needed
  • Determine monthly forecasts
  • Manage suspense accounts, ensuring they are reconciled and re-classed as needed by event
  • Ensure payments are processed correctly and accounts stay current
  • Identify process improvements to streamline and automate processes
  • Ad hoc questions and reportingThe Minimum Qualifications
    • A minimum of 3 years' experience with expense financials, reconciliations and reporting
    • At least 1 year of experience with maintaining detailed records/reports of event spend and tax reporting for individual attendees
    • Expert Excel skills
    • Strong analytical skills to review all aspects of financials and identify trending and areas of opportunities at all levels (including variance explanations and forecasting)
    • Ability to see the big picture and understand the details behind it; able to get at the root cause as well as understanding impacts throughout the process
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to details and provide accurate and timely summary and detail reporting to all levels
    • A true team player, ability to influence those not under direct control
    • Healthy sense of urgency, professional and strict adherence to confidential informationThe Ideal Qualifications
      • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field
      • SAP Finance experience
