Description
Position Summary:
- Maintain existing MBL portfolio, develops new business members
relationships by calling on local businesses, COI's professional
groups, and existing members soliciting new MBL deposit and loan
business and referrals in order to meet loan goals
- Analyze applicant's financial information, assess risk, and
recommends approval of member application for commercial loans
based on a thorough due diligence process
- Attends to the needs of members by seeking commercial loans and
cash management services
- Manages l business loan portfolio, building relationships,
ensures customer satisfaction, timely follow-up on renewals and
delinquencies. Maintains customer confidence by keeping information
confidential. Contributes to the team effort by performing other
job-related duties as needed
- Advises prospective and current members on various loan options
available and assesses the financial information. Essential
Functions/Position Responsibilities:
- Participates in developing lending and deposit business for the
company. Calls on clients to expand existing business; calls on
prospects seeking opportunities to expand the company's client
base. Actively engages in business development and civic
initiatives with contacts throughout the community, including
members and prospective customers to achieve defined goals
- Takes applications for commercial loan business. Obtains
necessary documents to fully underwrite and document credit
requests. Reviews member financial condition and assesses the
member's ability to re-pay the loan. Makes underwriting decisions
within approval authority. Completes or directs completion of all
loan documents and closes loans. Performing due diligence on the
lending process from application to closing documentation. Prepares
loan memorandums for presentation to the CLO & Vice President of
MBL and Credit Committee
- Monitors existing loan portfolio to maintain a high-quality
asset base. Maintains up-to-date client files including current
balance sheets, profit & loss statements, cash flow projections and
all loan documentation. Responsible for ongoing portfolio
management of relationships including identification and
documentation of problem loans, policy exceptions, grade changes,
annual reviews, watchlist reviews, and/or special reviews that may
be required
- Approves loan within established limits or refers loan to loan
committee for approval. Verifies loan agreements are complete and
accurate according to policy
- Troubleshoots and resolves internal and external inquires
- Establishes the structure of the loan, including pricing terms
and duration in accordance with the member relationship and company
policies
- Assists in collection of past due loans. Maintains credit
quality to minimizes exceptions, and to prevent past dues and
charge offs
- Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but
not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the
Office of Foreign Assets Control
- Actively engages in business development and civic initiatives
throughout the community, including members and prospective members
to achieve defined goals
- Researches background documentation and reviews personal and
business financial statements and tax returns. Will also be
required to analyze financial information review and prepares
written analysis to submit to the credit department. These
write-ups may include spreadsheets, reports, summaries, and
opinions
- Knowledge of Credit Union, internal MBL policies and
procedures, and NCUA regulations
- Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal,
analytical, problem-solving, and written skills
- Results-oriented and flexible with demonstrated ability to
prioritize work assignments
- Work with the Credit Department to update credit files and
financial spreads on an ongoing basis
- Familiarity with analyzing/underwriting C&I, CRE,
transactions
- Submitting individual and monthly production and pipeline
reports to the Vice President of MBL
- Ability to provide independent review and analysis of financial
information utilizing Financial Statements, Corporate Tax Returns,
Personal Tax Returns, Rent Rolls, A/R Aging Reports, and other
information provided/obtained
- Resourcefulness in researching clients, industries, collateral,
etc
- Ability to solve problems and work independently
- Strong organizational and time management skills - ability to
handle multiple tasks in a highly time-sensitive environment and
prioritize appropriately to meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail, in balance with work
efficiency
- Confident presentation skills, with comfort communicating
opinions to all levels of management
- Participates in special projects as assigned
- Maintains a good working relationship with all employees.
Demonstrates the ability to work independently. Works as a team
player to contribute to the success of the department, and in turn,
the organization
- Assumes additional responsibilities as required.
Requirements
Experience
Experience in analysis, underwriting, preparing loan proposals and
commercial portfolio management.
Possess extensive knowledge of the banking legislation.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or related direct
experience in commercial credit/lending activities preferred.
Interpersonal Skills.
Other Skills
Must have a valid Drivers' License.
Ability to analyze applicants' financial information, assess risk,
and recommends approval of member application for commercial loans
based on a thorough due diligence process. .
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Will be required to work outside of scheduled hours to respond to
positions issues.
