Job Description:
Duties: Provides macro and microeconomic research to assess
market trends, with a focus on broad economic measures, including
interest rates, inflation, employment, and money supply, within the
Energy and Utilities sectors. Gathers and analyzes industry data, graphs
industry trends, and streamlines data collection and processing. Primary Responsibilities: • Works closely with Equity Analysts and Associates on projects
to support stock-specific and industry presentations. • Conducts fundamental research to evaluate the earnings growth
of a particular company and broader industry. • Conducts sector research to identify the different lifecycles
of a sector, allowing investors to gain exposure to a particular
segment of the economy and exit the sectors which are foreseen to
underperform. • Performs thematic research and deep-dive studies on niche sector-specific topics. • Identifies stocks and investment opportunities in
different geographic regions using a well-defined financial viability
process to generate sustainable returns that align with the investment
philosophy of the Analysts and Portfolio Managers. • Develops and maintains industry trackers to evaluate the performance of stocks in various geographies. • Provides periodic updates on the valuation comp sheets
utilized to understand the performance of stock universes for
Analysts. • Collaborates with partners in global locations, industry sources, Wall Street contacts, and internal groups,
including technology, data and systems support, market data, and
research services, to gain important insights. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education
equivalent) in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Statistics,
Mathematics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience
performing fundamental equity sector research within the Energy and
Utilities sectors; Or, alternatively, a Master’s degree (or foreign
education equivalent) in Business Administration, Economics, Finance,
Statistics, Mathematics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of
experience in the job offered or one (1) year of experience performing
fundamental equity sector research within the Energy and Utilities
sectors. Candidate must also possess: Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”)
performing quantitative modeling and building supply demand models of
commodities - - crude oil, natural gas, and power; DE interpreting and
visualizing results from the IHS Markit Well Database using Tableau; DE
programming using VBA to parse U.S. rig data, construct rig databases, and
analyze industry trends; DE performing statistical analysis using
regression models to analyze industry themes and provide investment recommendations, and converting research results into written
and verbal presentations for portfolio managers within Energy and
