An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide essential communication support in educational settings. This role focuses on facilitating clear and effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff, ensuring an inclusive learning environment. Location: Albany, NY Key Responsibilities: Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and extracurricular activities. Collaborate with educators and support staff to accommodate students communication needs. Maintain confidentiality and professional standards while working with students and faculty. Facilitate smooth communication during school-related events and activities, including occasional travel to other locations as required. Qualifications and Desired Experience: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpretation skills. Previous experience in educational settings preferred. Strong understanding of deaf culture and communication strategies. Ability to travel locally depending on assignment requirements. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
