General Summary of Position:
The University of Massachusetts Lowell ("UMass Lowell") seeks a
visionary, collaborative, and inspirational leader for the position
of Dean of the Francis College of Engineering ("FCOE" or "the
College"). As one of the top 100 public universities in the country
with strong ties to the Boston tech and cultural hub, UMass Lowell
has experienced significant growth in applications, research
funding, and private donations over the past eight years.
It is an exciting time to join UMass Lowell. The university has
increased its research collaborations with industry, government,
and non-profits, with a research enterprise nearing $120 million
annually. The university aims to achieve R1 status by the Carnegie
Classification, further enhancing its reputation as a top research
university. The city of Lowell is also expanding its corporate
partnerships through initiatives like the Lowell Innovation Network
Corridor (LINC), supporting industries such as robotics, biotech,
technology, and cybersecurity.

About the Francis College of Engineering:
Named after hydraulic engineer James B. Francis, the college has
nearly 150 faculty members and 14 research centers, fully
accredited by ABET. It ranks No. 102 by U.S. News & World Report
and enrolls over 3,500 students across six departments. The college
maintains strong industry partnerships through research centers,
advisory boards, and co-op programs.
About UMass Lowell:
Located along the Merrimack River in Lowell, the university has a
rich history dating back to 1894. It is ranked No. 84 among
national public universities, with nearly 18,000 students and over
600 faculty. UMass Lowell offers numerous undergraduate and
