Job Description:

Position Title: Clinical Service DirectorGeneral Description:The Clinical Service Director works under the direct supervision of the Director of Medical Operations to supervise activities of all clinical sites, including oversight of clinical grants, and acts as a clinical champion. The Clinical Service Director provides direction for the daily clinical activities of the Health Center as they pertain to nursing, nutrition service, care management (led by Chief Medical Officer).Reports to: Director Medical OperationsSupervises: Nursing: Registered Nurses, License Practical Nurses, Medical Assistants, Clinical Case ManagersSalary/Status: ExemptMinimum Requirements:

  • Massachusetts licensure as a nurse (RN), BSN
    • 10 years' experience as a clinical nurse
    • Supervisory experience with nursing teams, case managers, and professional staff
    • Prior experience in training of health related professional preferred
    • Leadership experience in community based care primary care.
    • Knowledge of state and federal funding and grants management
    • Ability to present cases at interagency meetings and to represent CHC with employees, representatives of outside agencies, and the general public
    • Ability to function independently, consulting with clinical and non-clinical staff, prioritizing job responsibilities and helping those involved in common projects to achieve milestones according to project time-lines
    • Prior experience and knowledge of Quality and Performance Improvement concepts, methodologies, and activities
    • Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Demonstrated interpersonal relationship skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment
    • Reliable and professional in behavior and appearance
    • Prior experience as a Practice Manager in a primary care or specialty practice a definite plus.Principle Responsibilities and Duties:
      • Supervise nursing staff including RN's, LPN's, MA's, Clinical Case Managers (in conjunction with the CMO)
      • Assists Chief Medical Officer in implementing the Health Care Plan and adherence to standards
      • Oversee clinical operations of DPH grants and Ryan White grant.
      • Prepare reports on assigned state funded contracts
      • Provides health education and prevention services to staff and patients
      • Directs and participates in patient care activities by ensuring compliance with standards of care
      • Guides and evaluates clinical staff practices, monitors quality and productivity within areas of responsibility and corrects or modifies deficiencies as appropriate
      • Monitors and maintains responsible staffing patterns; coordinates staff to ensure nursing coverage for the Health Center at all sites
      • Conducts regular performance evaluations; recommends promotion and incentives or disciplinary action on staff members
      • Cooperates in implementing administrative initiatives such as those related to ensuring capture of all revenues/billings, site audits by commercial insurers or government agencies
      • Directs and participates in training for compliance with regulatory requirements
      • Assist in development of QI and Risk Management Programs
      • Assist in the development of QI/PI measures and related measurement tools
      • Assist with the identification and structure of work flow issues as they relate to improved process improvement and increased quality outcomes
      • Assists health center management by providing information for performance improvement and quality improvement projects and risk management as needed
      • Provides Care Model and PDSA Change/ Model leadership and training to management and health center staff
      • Manage reporting of Performance Improvement and Quality Improvement monitoring to Federal, State, Local and/or funders as needed including Federal Unified Data Set Clinical Measures
      • Participates in monthly Quality Improvement Committee Meetings
        • Performs other job related duties as required or assignedThis position requires the ability to use a computer workstation, viewing a CRT and operating a keyboard.From time to time, this position requires the ability to work long and arduous hours.
