Job Description:

As a member of the Innovation team, you will be provided the opportunity to leverage your imagination and entrepreneurial spirit and truly make an impact by bringing exciting new ideas to life. In this role, you will work collaboratively with the President, Chief Revenue Officer and cross functional teams to develop and execute WF Young's innovation strategy and project execution. As an entrepreneur innovator, you will fuel the innovation pipeline with creative ideas rooted in consumer insight and will move these items efficiently through the stage gate process.Responsibilities - Manage and optimize the company's Innovation Stage Gate Process in conjunction with the President & Chief Revenue Officer to prioritize projects for execution based on defined criteria and ensure key deliverables and timelines are achieved. - Collaborate with WFY Teams to identify relevant consumer trends and potential new product opportunities. - Work with R&D to conduct feasibility review and complete necessary inputs of business case. - Perform deep risk & capability analysis for new products, re-formulations & technologies. - Conduct idea generation, screening and prioritization activities to develop short, medium and long-term pipelines - Provide regular and timely updates on project status, key milestones, challenges and next steps to key stakeholders and leadership - Identify & champion relevant strategic new technologies that can be profitably deployed in our business to grow our value addition / value capture opportunities. - Coordinate with Marketing to develop visual concepts and positioning for research purposes. - Manage access and input from scientific experts and can converse in technical and mathematical context. - Creation & timely execution of new product development briefs based on the insights collected by / with the Sales Team on new and emerging customer needs. - Use standard project management tools to update on a monthly basis the Senior Management Team on key projects, business risks & priorities. - Collaborate with Quality to manage Request for Quotes including quantitative research, efficacy research, field research and claims research. - Collaborate with Marketing in the management of consumer research including concepting testing, focus groups and acquisition of third-party data. - Manage the Frequently Asked Questions development for existing and new products including technical answers that are in compliance. - Ensure that a continuous improvement culture is driven within the team and that Ingredient, Technical, Regulatory and Market knowledge is kept up to date. - Partner with identified vendors to accelerate technical innovation and sourcing of material and components. - Support quality team on complaint investigations and remedies. - Manage budgets and resources needed for project development and team support. - Assist in the development of field testing including protocols, claims and statistical analysis.Key Competencies - Proven track record of leading an R&D organization in a customer-centric, solutions-oriented team. - Depth of understanding of Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Development - Depth of understanding of regulatory and labelling requirements. - Demonstrated performance of leading and developing new technologies and innovation platforms from ideation through commercialization. - Strong commercial acumen - ability to understand the economic impacts and options. - Understanding of operations and equipment - ability to assist internal and external customers on how to maximize performance of production assets with our products. - Technical expertise in FDA, EPA, AAFCO, NASC, Health Canada and European Regulations impacting the product development process, including REACH, TSCA, and Prop 65 a plus. - Demonstrated ability to form deep partnership with the Sales team and operate Sales and R&D functions as a unified commercial team. - Highly effective organization, negotiation, coordination, and presentation skills. - Ability to communicate effectively in all situations with strong organizational and people management skills. - Ability to function effectively in fast-paced situations, with the personal leadership to influence and positively motivate self and peers. - Strong understanding of linking research to business opportunity.Qualifications

  • 7+ years' experience in Innovation, Market research, or related field within Consumer-Packaged Goods.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of market research methodologies, training and certification of an asset.
  • Knowledge of syndicated data and retailer POS.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and capable of learning new programs quickly.
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills.
  • Solid business acumen.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with ability to influence.
  • Self-starter that takes initiative and can work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven track record for developing ideas and leveraging research to launch successful products.
  • Quick learner and problem solver who can adapt to a changing marketplace.''Work Remotely
