Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance

Job Description:

  • Oversees the administration and operation of a comprehensive compliance program for 24 NCAA DII varsity sports and NCAA DI men's ice hockey, and approximately 650 student-athletes. Ensures NCAA Division I and Division II compliance and institutional control by the coaches, athletics staff and the college. Work collaboratively with Registrar and FAR, particularly on initial and continuing eligibility. Monitors and updates Institutional Request Lists, activates/deactivates PSA's, manages webs status reports as necessary. Monitors and confirms prior seasons of competition. Checks countable athletically related activities, phone logs, official and unofficial visits, contacts, and evaluations for validity. Handles all transfer requests and required paperwork. Advises on initial academic and amateurism issues, communication with high schools, student-athletes, parents/guardians, and coaches as necessary. Produces medical and NCAA related waiver requests. Monitors initial and continuing eligibility. Ensures compliance with USA Rugby Regulations for Men's Rugby. Communicates with USA Rugby staff when necessary. Works with NIRA to ensure conference compliance with NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Works with NCAA Eligibility Center and NCAA staff on a routine basis. Communicates and uses discretion in providing NCAA interpretations and education. Education includes not only the production of a monthly newsletter, but internal compliance workshops to continue to expand the department's knowledge and awareness of compliance. Answers interpretative questions from administration and coaching staff. Communicates with NE-10 and NCAA staff with regards to interpretations. Completes and generates NLI's and degree awards/benefit information for student-athletes.
  • Maintains the compliance website and social media forums
  • Completes NCAA reports. Reports compliance violations to NE-10 and NCAA.
  • Supervises a graduate assistant. May serve as a sport administrator for select varsity programs
  • Other administrative duties and assignments determined by the Vice President for Athletics and the Director of Athletics. Requirements
    • Required Degree(s): Master's Degree
    • Required Field of Expertise: 3-5 years experience working at an NCAA DI or DII institution in compliance Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
      • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA DI and DII rules and compliance procedures
      • Knowledge of NCAA compliance software, including ARMS
      • Experience in athletic student-athlete support
      • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
      • Strong time-management skills
      • Strong commitment to integrity, student-athlete success, and diversity, equity, and inclusion Work Schedule This is a full time, exempt level, benefits eligible position. Normal office hours are 8:30am - 4:30pm,flexible to the needs of the department. Evening, weekend, and holiday event work required as the schedule dictates.
