Job Description:
PJ Library, a program of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, was
launched with a humble beginning in 2005, sending books to children
in western MA about Jewish holidays, culture, and values. Today, PJ
Library has exploded into an internationally recognized, $36M
global cultural literacy venture that partners with philanthropists
and Jewish communities around the world to provide families raising
Jewish children with the gift of free, high-quality children's
books and resources that foster deeper engagement with Jewish
life.The Harold Grinspoon Foundation (HGF), founded in 1991 by real
estate guru and businessman, Harold Grinspoon, is one of the most

to its mission for decades to come.Position OverviewReporting to
the Chief Philanthropy Officer, this position will lead a team to
cultivate, steward, and renew major gifts and fee income critical
to the financial sustainability of PJ Library. Over time, major
gift revenue will be the engine for PJ Library's growth, such that
the Individual and Institutional Partnerships Director will secure
directly, enable, or support more than half of annual revenue. The
Director will be a strategic thought leader to the Chief
Philanthropy Officer, manage a team of experienced front-line
fundraisers, Advancement Officers, and partner closely with the
Director of Donor Relations, the Director of Development
Operations, and cross-team colleagues.Responsibilities:Secure $12M
+ in major gifts each year through direct reports, with senior
leadership, and/or directly---Secure transformational "Alliance"
gifts of $1,000,000+/5 years; collaborate with Foundation
leadership, including President, Founder, and trustees as
appropriateSecure five- and six-figure gifts; coach direct reports
to develop and deliver on individualized cultivation plans; hold a
portfolio of 35-50 major gift donors and prospectsWorking closely
with the Chief Philanthropy Officer develop and implement PJ
Library's major gift program for ongoing sustainability and
growthOversee special cultivation vehicles such as the PJ Library
New Works FundExplore the creation of local lay-leadership
structures, as appropriate, to increase sustain PJ Library's
programming and financial healthMaintain a global lens: partner
closely with the Director of PJ Library International, regional
International Directors, PJ Library leadership, and the Executive
Director of Keren Grinspoon Israel to raise and steward support for
PJ Library across the globeSteward partner executives and support
local fundraisingBuild and maintain strong relationships with
operating partners' executive teams to ensure partnership health as
measured by growing PJ Library enrollment, active local community
engagement, comprehensive data collection, and constant to growing
fee income, and sustained financial healthDevelop and sustain
meaningful stewardship plan for operating partners' executive
leadershipCoach direct reports to maintain productive relationships
with operating partners' executive teams; hold a small portfolio of
local executive leadership relationshipsTeam leadershipManage the
team of experienced front-line fundraisers (Advancement
Officers)Ensure right-sized portfolios across fundraisers; set
collective team goals and individual fundraisers' goalsCoach direct
reports to achieve their goals, maximize their major gift
portfolios, and grow the major gift pipelineCoordinate with the
Prospect Manager and reinforce data-driven portfolio refresh
protocols, prospect identification, and moves management
processesDefine and regularly review leading indicators/interim
metrics to ensure progress to goalDevelop Advancement Officer team
to ensure individual and collective professional growthWork with
Chief Philanthropy Officer, Director of Donor relations and
Director of Advancement Operations to "row together" to achieve
organizational financial health goalsSecure resources to ensure
team success, including working with Chief Philanthropy Officer,
Managing Director of PJ Library, and program staff to ensure
advancement officers maintain a deep understanding of program
activities and needsReport on department performance, needs, and
opportunities to the Chief Philanthropy Officer, Organizational
Leadership, and the Board of Trustees as
appropriateRequirementsSkills and/or Experience Required:Minimum of
10 years of experience in leading development strategy and managing
teams towards fundraising successDemonstrated success in major gift
solicitations and portfolio managementIntense achievement
orientation: sets ambitious, data-based goals and exceeds
themRelationship builder with a track record of forging trusted
partnerships and driving impact through influenceAbility to
implement fundraising best practices while adapting for the unique
donor or program; brings rigor and discipline, but not afraid to
get creative when the situation demands itAbility to manage
multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize responsibilities
effectivelyCollaborative team-player excited to work across
departments and programs to achieve the best possible
resultsExceptional written and verbal communication; Able to
represent the Harold Grinspoon Foundation at all timesProficiency
in the Microsoft Office suite of programs, experience in NXT a
plusExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailStrong
analytical and critical thinking skillsExperience in Jewish
organizations and ability to speak persuasively of the mission of
