    We seek a dynamic individual, with an established track record for high-quality curricular development at the university level who is interested in preparing students to meet the challenges facing the future in Psychology & Clinical Mental Health. The Director will lead the programs at the graduate level and will work with faculty to design, build and nurture the programs' offerings developing an approach to learning that prepares graduates to meet the present-day workplace needs. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to use creative and innovative approaches towards academic program development. In coordination with the Dean of the School of Health Sciences, the program director shall have the authority, accountability and responsibility that come with academic and administrative oversight of all aspects of the Psychology and Clinical Mental Health program.

    The Director will have a Doctoral degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology or related field, and have experience as a practitioner in the field of Psychology and Clinical Mental Health and have a strong academic background in higher education. The ideal candidate will also have experience in professional leadership, health science and information technology. Experience in teaching in a distance and/or blended format is required.

    This position is a twelve-month, non-tenure year position, reporting directly to the Dean of the School of Health Sciences. The Director will carry a course load of 24 credits with an annual course release of six credits through the University and will demonstrate the ability to creatively engage students in didactic and experiential learning opportunities in the on-line environment, and collaborate with other graduate and undergraduate program leaders, Dean of the School of Health Sciences, and other faculty members/staff of the university.

    The scholar selected for this position will join a collaborative and dedicated School that emphasizes excellence in education at all levels. This person will be involved in expanding program offerings; grow enrollment; lead school partnerships and significant new innovative initiatives. The director will participate in curriculum and programmatic development and innovation at both the graduate and undergraduate level; advise students; participate actively in local, state, and national professional organizations; and contribute to the service mission of the University and the School.

    This full-time Faculty-Program Director position reports to the Dean of the School Health Sciences and is responsible for directing, implementing, evaluating all aspects of the graduate psychology programs including faculty development, student advising, student achievement, curriculum development and evaluation. This position is responsible for teaching graduate level courses in the Developmental Psychology and Clinical Mental Health Counseling programs, additionally overseeing the coordination of internship placements, grant opportunities, and assisting with ongoing programmatic activities such as orientations, open houses, webinars, and other activities as requested by the Dean of the SHS.

    The director of this program will engage in ongoing outreach and contact with colleges, schools, agencies/organizations to continually connect with communities to build partnership and/or programs.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    The PD, in coordination with the Dean of the School of Health Sciences shall have the authority, accountability and responsibility that come with academic and administrative oversight of all aspects of the Psychology and Clinical Mental Health program including, but not limited to:

    • Provides effective leadership, direction, and support in implementing the vision, mission, strategic plan, and core commitments of the program in alignment with the University's and School's strategic plan.
    • Holds regular meetings with the program faculty and staff to facilitate communication concerning academic, student and course issues.
    • Provides feedback to faculty concerning course and programmatic evaluations.
    • Manages program faculty assignments.
    • Develops course schedules to align with other programs and cohort site requirements.
    • Engages in scholarly activities.
    • Develops working relationship within the larger University, and with local communities, practice partners and other key stakeholders that promotes intra- and inter school collaboration and communication.
    • Leads curriculum development and instructional advancement in the program.
    • Assume responsibility for program budget management.
    • Recruit, supervises and evaluate program faculty.
    • Develop, submit, and maintain all assigned records and documents as required by accrediting agencies such as self-studies, program reviews, and annual reports.
    • Responsible for review and program approval processes as required by the University and accrediting bodies, including the maintenance and submission of records and reports as needed.
    • Develop program description and associated program information for publication in the University catalog and Web page. Reviews this information on an annual basis with regard to program curricula and makes appropriate recommendations for changes in order to keep information current.
    • Maintain communication and works cooperatively with internship/practicum coordinator.
    • Assist with student recruitment through on-going information sessions and open-houses, and other recruitment activities.
    • Plan and implement new student orientation and coordinates on-going student advising.
    • In collaboration with the Center for On-line Learning and assigned Instructional Designer(s) works to develop and maintain courses in Canvas LMS.
    • In collaboration with the Hatch Library personnel works to establish program library resource site for program and student access
    • Is a member of the program's Advisory Committee which must meet at least once annually for input and reporting processes.
    • Maintains knowledge and skills in the area of clinical expertise (i.e., through direct care, coordinator of care, staff development continuing education, health policy, consultation).
    • Maintain advanced certification in area of expertise.
    • Maintain a defined area of clinical practice.
    • Maintain a presence on the campus including attendance at all major institutional events (e.g., Commencement, Convocation) and student events when necessary.
    • Provide assistance for grants or other fundraising efforts as requested.
    • Stay current with best practices in teaching and learning effectiveness.
    • Incorporate technology to enhance student learning.
    • Assist with the identification, compilation, and analysis of program assessment information.
    • Actively assess student learning according to program and course learning outcomes.
    • Respect students' diversity and points of view.
    • Participate in professional development and scholarly activities in the field of Developmental Psychology and Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
    • Attend trainings as required.
    • Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by the University.

      Job Requirements:
      • Degree requirements for position: Doctoral degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology or related field, required.
      • Previous teaching experience: Five years of experience working and supervising students in a mental health related field within the last 5 five years, strongly preferred.
      • Experience as a program director and teaching in higher education, strongly preferred.
      • Experience in both on-line course development and on-line teaching, required.
      • Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.
      • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
