Job Description:
About the Job:The RN Trauma Program Manager maintains continuous
oversight and accountability for the overall operational,
financial, and quality improvement efforts of the trauma program to
maintain verification as an American College of Surgeons (ACS)
Level II Trauma Center. While reporting to the RN Director,
Clinical Quality Programs, the RN Trauma Program Manager maintains
a "dotted line" to the Trauma Medical Director, collaborating to
directly improve the quality of care delivered to all trauma
patients across the continuum of care.What You'll Do:
- In conjunction with the Trauma Medical Director, responsible
for institutional compliance with verification standards as an
American College of Surgeons (ACS) Level II Trauma Center.
- Maintains intimate knowledge of trauma care systems and
protocols from pre-hospital care to rehab and outpatient follow up.
Directly liaise with pre-hospital entities, inpatient nurse
managers and ancillary support managers, front line trauma staff,
Medical Directors, and ambulatory practices. Serve as a clinical
expert and resource to staff caring for trauma patients.
- Maintain direct oversight of trauma program staff including the
recruiting and retention of Trauma Registrar(s), Trauma Performance
Improvement Coordinator(s), and the Injury Prevention
Coordinator.
- Oversee regulatory and quality management requirements of the
trauma registry in accordance with ACS verification standards.
Collaborate with trauma registrar(s) and trauma analyst(s) to
create data validation plans that ensure equitable data quality.
Submit all data to the Trauma Quality Improvement database prior to
deadlines.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practice
guidelines related to the care of trauma patients and remains
current with local, state, and national trends. Participate in
state, regional, and national trauma committees to improve trauma
care.
- Collaborate directly with the Trauma Medical Director to
interpret national benchmarking reports through the Trauma Quality
Improvement Program (TQIP); create performance improvement annual
goals based off these metrics.
- Work directly with the Trauma Medical Director (TMD) to present
quality reviews of patient cases through the Trauma
Multidisciplinary Peer Review Committee (TMPRC). Responsible for
meeting agendas, case presentation, minutes, and action items
related to reviews.
- Work directly with the Trauma Medical Director (TMD) to present
overall operational data, guideline adherence data, and ACS metric
adherence to TMPRC and system leaders via the Trauma Operations
Committee.
- Conduct an ongoing assessment of the trauma program to develop
and coordinate educational activities and in-service activities
across all patient care and ancillary service departments in the
hospital.
- Collaborate with the Injury Prevention Coordinator and trauma
registry staff to identify "Top 3 Mechanisms of Injury" and
implement an annual plan that focuses on prevention of injury.
Monitors national trends and participates in community outreach
programs such as "Stop the Bleed."
- Maintain stewardship of trauma billing, collaborating with
Revenue Integrity to ensure appropriate coding and application of
methodologies for reimbursement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.Who You Are:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a bachelor's
degree in nursing required. Master's degree preferred.
- Current and valid RN license issued by the State of New
Hampshire required. Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Advanced
Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required. Certified Emergency Nursing
(CEN) and/or Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) preferred.
- The following certifications are required within one year of
hire if not already obtained:
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
- Trauma Care after Resuscitation (TCAR)
- Trauma Certified RN (TCRN)
- The following courses are required to be completed within one
year of hire if not already obtained:
- American Trauma Society's (ATS)Trauma Program Manager
Course.
- Society of Trauma Nurse's (STN) Trauma Outcomes and Performance
Improvement Course (TOPIC) and Optimal Trauma Center Organization
and Management Course (OPTIMAL)
- Trauma Center Association of America's (TCAA) Basic Trauma
Center Finance and Business course.
- A minimum of five (5) years nursing experience in a trauma
critical care unit or trauma emergency department required. Quality
program coordination or management preferred.
- Knowledge of best practices in care of the trauma patient.
Knowledge of Lean Management System and A3 concepts preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including excel.Why
