Today, we continue to achieve our mission "to build a community of strong, healthy families who protect and nurture children" by providing a full range of behavioral health, early childhood and youth development, substance abuse treatment, and support services for children, families and adults in the Greater Hartford region. Director, Risk Management & Compliance Job Summary: Key leadership role responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining agency wide Risk Management and Compliance programs, policies and procedures. The Director of Risk Management and Compliance provides expertise on risk, compliance and privacy issues while collaborating with management and staff to establish a culture where risk mitigation and compliance is seen as a key ingredient in service quality and the success of the agencys mission. The Director of Risk Management and Compliance ensures that the agency operates with the appropriate internal controls and is compliant with applicable laws and regulations. Using personal leadership and multiple means of communication, the Director of Risk Management and Compliance works to establish an environment, structure and process to ensure that overall security and risk management goals are established, monitored and satisfied for all work areas. Responsibilities (including, but not limited to): Strategy, leadership and policy development: Leads, implements and updates the Agency Risk Management and Compliance frameworks including agency-wide programs, policies and procedures to ensure compliance and alignment with all applicable federal, state laws, regulations and accreditation standards. Advises senior management of risk and compliance activities. Provides leadership and direction in Risk Management activities, and oversees internal compliance reviews, investigations, state, regulatory, licensing and accreditation reviews. Establishes structures and processes to develop and monitor risk management goals and activities. Partners with leadership committees and teams across the agency to ensure risk management efforts are appropriately defined, managed, completed and communicated. Implements and maintains a system of management reporting that provides timely and relevant information on management for risk and compliance initiatives, investigations, training and other activities. Includes recommendations for improvements. Experience and Skills: Education: Bachelors degree in healthcare, Registered Nurse, or related degree required. An advance degree preferred, such as a Masters in Health Administration, Juris Doctorate or related field. Clinical background in behavioral health field is a plus. Experience: Five years experience as a healthcare compliance officer or similar discipline, including performance improvement experience, risk management experience and regulatory compliance knowledge concerning Joint Commission, OSHA and state licensing standards. Must be knowledgeable of federal and state laws and regulations as they pertain to Medicaid, activities and focus of the OIG, and other key regulatory bodies healthcare laws, regulations, auditing procedures, and standards including HIPAA and PHI. Knowledgeable in the area of coding and revenue cycle management, including grants management, risk management and performance and process improvement. Certification in risk management and healthcare quality management preferred. Extensive report development experience and Policy & Procedure development experience. Analytical skills including a working knowledge of basic statistics and statistical analysis methodologies. Effective public speaking skills and the ability to articulate complex regulatory information in understandable terms. A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others to coordinate activities and achieve goals. High degree of professionalism, ability to work well with teams, flexibility and organizational problem-solving skills.
