Category(s): Allied Health Clinical Professional, NutritionFull Time / Part Time: Full-TimeShift: FirstSummary:The Assistant Clinical Nutrition Manager (ACNM), utilizing innovative and flexible solutions, evidence-based practice, and effective operations, is responsible for establishing an environment that transforms professional growth, role model competence, and proficiency at the community hospitals. In addition, the ACNM facilitates the achievement of professional outcomes with all assigned staff and the provision of evidence-based nutrition care.In collaboration with the Manager, Clinical Nutrition (manager), the ACNM is responsible for interviewing and selecting team members. In addition, ACNM provides annual and continuous performance evaluation of the Clinical Nutrition staff at the community hospitals to ensure successful professional enculturation, excellence in practice, and Clinical Ladder advancement.The ACNM ensures staff competence to ensure excellence in practice and create a culture of safety. The ACNM assists in the development of clinical nutrition practice. The overall outcome of professional development is the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and attitudes that translate into practice, contribute to the safety of patients/families, and provision of quality care. In addition to acquiring knowledge, skills, and attitude, clinical excellence includes evaluating and measuring current clinical knowledge, proficiency of technical skills, application of critical thinking, and performance.The ACNM functions in various roles, including educator, facilitator, change agent, team member, consultant, and researcher.Job Requirements:1) Expert knowledge

  • Demonstrates expert knowledge and skill in clinical specialty
  • Continually seeks and engages in continuing education opportunities appropriate to the patient population
  • Assists in evaluating and implementing up to date evidence-based and evidence-informed practice guidelines
  • Demonstrates innovative/creative approaches to problem-solving
  • Provides patient/family-centered care2) Maintains staff competency
    • Performs ongoing competency evaluation
    • Conducts chart audits and provides feedback
    • Reviews staff clinical ladder submissions annually
    • Verifies CDR registration and MA license status3) Creates and implements staff development plans
      • Conducts annual evaluations- Provides ongoing performance feedback
        • Inspires, transforms and achieves outcomes in staff learning through formal/informal teaching (including bedside teaching)
        • Educates, mentors, and acts as a consultant in the delivery of care that translates into excellence in knowledge, skill, and leadership at the bedside
        • Mentors staff in career/professional development, role transition, and succession planning4) Manages new hire onboarding process
          • Arranges for workspace and office supplies
          • Orients staff to all pertinent software, including EMR
          • Mentors staff in the synthesis of information and critical thinking
          • Mentors staff in all areas of clinical practice, including PN and EN management
          • Validates clinical competency5) Exemplifies fiscal responsibility by effectively and efficiently managing resources to achieve desired outcomes
            • Compiles and submits end of month data for benchmarking
            • Plans daily work assignments and assesses the need for per diem coverage
            • Conducts regularly scheduled inventory of patient education materials and places orders as needed6) Leadership
              • Demonstrates project management skills
                • Advances the role of Clinical Nutrition in patient care
                  • Role models professionalism and organizational values
                    • Networks within and outside of BH to enhance clinical practice7) Effective communication
                      • Stays current with health, organizational, community, professional trends and developments to assist in planning/implementing initiatives
                      • Speaks and writes in a clear, logical, and grammatical manner in formal and informal situations
