Job Description:
MHA is hiring immediately for an Acquired Brain Injury Nurse.
MHA is seeking a Full-time LPN and a Part-Time RN. The Nurse will
be responsible for performing diversified nursing services for
residents including coordination of health services for
participants, act as medication administration policy consultant,
teaching, training, policy implementation, and other similar
duties. Maintain an ongoing assessment of health care needs for the
well-being of the participants served, in compliance with the
Federal, State and Association policies, procedures and
regulations.Acquired Brain Injury Nurse Essential Position
FunctionsAnswer and respond to calls from Acquired Brain Injury
(ABI) residences and administration concerning health needs of ABI
participants. Coordinate medical treatment including triage, staff
discussion and implementation on emergency basis. Communicate with
doctors, nurses, etc. regarding participant medical or clinical
issues through office visits or telephone calls. Instruct staff to
carry out proper medical triage as needed.Make routine scheduled
visits to residences to meet with staff, answer questions, educate
and assess participants. Make emergency visits to participants when
necessary.Perform medication audits as part of MAP policy. Review
all medical documentation such as; medication status sheets,
medication administration sheets, physician contact sheets, etc.
Assess all laboratory work for participants including ordering,
receiving calls or sending results to other providers.Plan, design,
and implement various training programs for staff, to teach and
institute health care procedures in coordination with the Nurse
Coordinator.Transport or accompany participants to doctor
appointments as needed.Participate in clinical assessment and
recommendations as required.Attend various meetings within the
agency and with other organizations, associations, etc.Attend and
advise staff team meetings.Visit or call families of participants
regarding health care issues.Maintain a safe workplace environment
by identifying and addressing any safety hazards/issues, reporting
all employee accidents to Human Resources and participant accidents
to supervisor, and following established MHA safety policies and
procedures.Acquired Brain Injury Nurse QualificationsKnowledge of
procedures and practices in the specialized field of
nursing.Possess current and valid Massachusetts RN/LPN
licenseMinimally one year nursing experience preferred but not
required.Must be self-directed, have strong communication and
organizational skills.Possess current driver's license and have car
and willingness to use car for work purposes.
