Across 32 clinical locations, more than 50 specialties and 825 physicians, we provide proactive, customized care to more than 720,000 adult and pediatric patients across eastern Massachusetts.The Atrius Health practices including Dedham Medical Associates, Granite Medical Group, Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates and PMG Physician Associates - together with VNA Care - work in collaboration with hospital partners, community specialists and skilled nursing facilities, to develop innovative and effective ways of delivering care in the most appropriate setting, making it easier for patients to be healthy.We believe that by establishing a solid foundation of knowledge, understanding and trust with each of our patients, we enrich their health and enhance their lives.SUMMARYUnder general supervision, performs routine and special laboratory assays of patient specimens (e.G., body fluids, exudates, skin scrapings or surgical specimens), exercising independent judgment when evaluating the validity of test results prior to result reporting. Provides data for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. Operates and calibrates all equipment in the area of specialization, evaluates the validity of laboratory data, records tests results, communicates with physicians, pathologists and nursing staff regarding test procedures and results.EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONSAssociates degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution; or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in CLIA regulations. Bachelor degree in any discipline or equivalent from an accredited institution is also acceptable. We will also consider a Medical Technologist (MT) for this position.Certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT), by the ASCP or equivalent certification is strongly preferred (those without Certification are typically expected to become certified within 6 months of date of hire). Will also accept certifications meeting the federal requirements of CLIA 88.American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.EXPERIENCEOne year of laboratory experience preferred.SKILLSExcellent problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex clinical and instrument problems. Accurate, reliable, and able to work well under pressure and to finish a task once started.
