Seeking a Full-Time Hospice Volunteer Coordinator to Join our Team: Hospice of Western & Central Massachusetts provides special care for people who are terminally ill. This involves a team-oriented approach that addresses the medical, physical, socials, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient. Hospice also provides support to the patient's family or caregiver. Services provided at Hospice of Western & Central Massachusetts mainly includes home health aide, counseling, spiritual services, volunteer services, medical social services, medical supply services, nursing services, and physician services._Athena Health Care Systems, based in Connecticut, has been a leader in providing quality health care services since 1984. By enhancing the quality of life and quality of our environments, we have made our managed facilities a better place for our residents to live and a better place for employees to work._ PURPOSE OF POSITION: Responsible for recruiting, screening, training, assigning and supervising Hospice Services of Massachusetts volunteers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Coordinates Volunteer Program in accordance with Hospice of Western & Central Massachusetts's short- and long-term goals. Directs an on-going recruiting effort to increase volunteer participation. Screens all potential volunteers Plans and conducts training classes as necessary. Assures that the program meets the standards set by regulatory or certification bodies regarding the participation of volunteers. Assesses patients, families, and areas of the program for potential volunteer involvement through participation at interdisciplinary team meetings. Assigns volunteers to appropriate activities. Monitors reports from the volunteers and brings urgent items to the attention of the IDT as appropriate. Maintains on-going communication with volunteers Provides direction for the solving of problems involving volunteers Submits timely reports to the supervisor regarding volunteer activities and levels of participation. Evaluates all volunteers at least annually. Designs on-going continuing educations programs for volunteers. Maintains volunteer personnel files. Designs volunteer appreciation activities or programs. Maintains records of volunteer activity to meet regulatory requirements. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Note: To protect the health and safety of our patients, their families and caregivers, employees, the communities we serve, and per Massachusetts mandate we have implemented a universal COVID-19 Vaccination requirement for all employees. Bachelor's degree in health care, education, liberal arts or social services. Experience in working with people. Excellent writing and presentation skills. Excellent organizational and presentation skills. Ability to achieve goals through coordination of many individuals and activities. Ability to retain firm control while building warm, empathetic relationships with volunteers. Ability to accept and work within a wide variety of cultural, educational, and religious differences. Flexibility and willingness to cooperate with the team. Knowledge of hospice philosophy and concepts of care.
