Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Critical Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:30 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Valid nursing license Certifications: ACLS required Must-Have: Epic experience required; navy blue scrubs required Description: The nurses in our Progressive Critical Care Unit care for some of the most medically delicate and surgically complex patients. Patients may present with respiratory failure, sepsis, closed head injuries, multi-system organ dysfunction, endocrine disorders, complex traumas, and surgical complications. Candidates must be competent in the care of medical and surgical populations. Advanced hemodynamics knowledge, including pressor usage per titration protocols, is essential. Nurses should be familiar with antihypertensive drips, sedative and Narcan drips, thrombo-embolytics, arterial lines, central venous pressure monitoring, external ventricular drains, orthopedic traction, and infection prevention protocols. Experience with high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), BiPap/Cpap, and oxy-dependent patients is also required. Nurses with large-scale adult Progressive Critical Care Unit experience and community hospital intensive care unit experience tend to succeed in this role. The average patient load consists of three high-acuity patients.
