Job Description:
General Purpose:Having a passion for Food Safety through
Sanitation, demonstrated interpersonal and team influence skills;
the Sanitation Manager will develop effective relationships to
enable wet and dry sanitation technical support in the plant. In
addition to assisting operations with targeted improvements; this
position will develop, communicate and lead the local strategy to
ensure compliance to the DFA Comprehensive Practice Standard.
Demonstrated ability to create followership with teams is valued.
Sanitation Systems gap assessments and support corrective action to
enable compliance to DFA Central policyJob Duties and
Responsibilities:Working cross functionally and collaboratively
with DFA Operations, QA, and Chemical Supply Vendors, develop,
implement and continuously improve on sanitation programs,
policies, and key performance indicators (KPI's)Manage Chemical
SupplierReview all plant monthly sanitation service reports for
outstanding action items requiring corrective action. Ensure
monthly meetings are held with the Chemical Supply company to
ensure closure of all action items. Include plant and operations
team members as neededEngage supplier as needed to assist with
mitigation activitiesEvaluate current and new chemicals and
sanitation tools and provide feedback and recommendation for
useParticipate in annual vendor survey, ensure plant participation,
and communicate resultsEnsure new plant Sanitarians complete
Sanitation University training and outline on-going refresher
training on products and useCreate and deliver education and
technical support to ensure effective deployment and implementation
of sanitation and food safety policies and proceduresEnsure that
manufacturing facility have the systems, knowledge, capabilities,
and practices to comply with all pertinent food regulations and
company procedures with respect to sanitationConduct periodic
sanitation audits against the consistent application and execution
of procedures and all related sanitation practices. Ensure CAPA's
are created and closed outManage Sanitation Verification
ProgramsProvide standardized procedures, testing, and data
management programs (ATP, Zone 1 microbial testing)Ensure trending
and action items as neededMonitor emerging issues related to
sanitation and food safety and develop strategies and policies
accordingly. Ensure sanitation goals and objectives are clearly
defined and current for our facilityEnsure all SSOP's are current
and annually reviewed. Assist with the creation of SSOP's. Provide
technical support and advise SR. Operations management on
effectiveness of plant sanitation and cleaning programs
(SSOP's)Manage and verify MSS and Sanitary PM schedulesGuide
manufacturing facility during special plant sanitation issues
including microbiological and environmental controlWork with plants
to ensure the automated cleaning systems are validated and
automated cleaning circuits (CIP) are verified for effective
cleaningThe requirements herein are intended to describe the

required.Requirements:Minimum Qualifications:Education and
ExperienceBachelor of Science in Food Science, Sanitation, Food
Safety, Food Technology, or a related field with a background in
Biology, Microbiology and/or Chemistry5+ years of food plant
experienceExperience with dairy products, ice cream, cheese, and
milk powders preferredExperience with regulatory, third party, and
customer auditsThorough knowledge and experience with diverse
sanitizing applicationsExtensive knowledge of CIP systems and
process automationDemonstrate knowledge of appropriate wet cleaning
and dry-cleaning methodology and be able to identify the
appropriate cleaning method and make effective recommendations
based on scientific principlesExperience in successfully addressing
environmental sanitation challenges in areas such as drains,
floors, walls, roofs, and equipmentCertification and/or License -
None required, although certification in professional field desired
(e.g., REH/RS, CQA, CQE)Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMust
demonstrate proven critical thinking, people and team development
skills, strategic aptitude, and independent leadership.Able to work
collaboratively in a team environment with cross functional
departmentsAble to communicate professionally, both orally and
writtenAble to understand and analyze issues involving food
