The Perinatal Safety & Quality Manager is responsible for the
development, implementation and maintenance of an effective
Neonatal and Obstetric safety program at Mercy Medical Center.
Collaborates with administrative, medical, nursing, quality and
safety leadership to promote a culture of patient safety and
adherence to national clinical standards. Utilizes the principles
and practice of the science of safety and serves as a visible and
recognized advocate for patient safety in all Neonatal and
Obstetric related clinical areas/units.

You Will Be Responsible For:
Exceptional Patient Care: Collects, analyzes and evaluates
patient outcomes data in order to anticipate and mitigate potential
patient risk and to enhance the nursing professional practice
environment at the unit level.
Excellent Communicator: Maintains competence in the national
standards of clinical practice and disseminates pertinent safety
and specialty related information to the team
Strong Educator: Responsible for the implementation, maintenance
and evaluation of a perinatal safety program by synthesizing
national guidelines, current scientific, scholarly and professional
literature and evidenced-based practice.
Technical Familiarity: Performs collaborative reviews of adverse
occurrences and near misses. Participates in root cause analysis
for high priority reviews and sentinel events. Assists with
development of a departmental clinical review database. Initiates
quality improvements, applying knowledge garnered through tracking
nursing indicators, national benchmark data and evidenced-based
research findings to improvements in the quality of care.
- Active Teamwork: Provides real time feedback to staff regarding
compliance with policies and procedures. Monitors staff compliance
with quality and initiatives. Assesses the documentation in the
medical record and provides feedback to clinicians on opportunities
for improvement. Fosters and promotes participation by all
clinicians in educational programs and clinical drills.
BSN from an accredited School of Nursing required. Masters of
Science in Nursing or related field preferred.
Current MA RN license in good standing required.
ACLS, NRP, & NCC Electronic fetal monitoring certification
within six (6) months of hire.
Must have five (5) years of L&D experience and involved in
quality initiatives, with demonstrated clinical and leadership
