Job Description:

Chief responsibility is to collect and submit reliable data to Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) database. In addition, may be assigned other special projects identified by Mercy Medical Center's Quality Department. Provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary and other health professionals in maintaining the standards for professional nursing practice.

Work Hours/Shift:
  • 40hr Mon-Fri days with flexibility to work off hours to meet the needs of the department


You Will Be Responsible For :
  • Exceptional Patient Care: Serves an integral part of a multidisciplinary MBS team and takes an active role in medical record review, monitoring various regulatory and compliance initiatives, and recommends corrective actions to management
  • Excellent Communicator: Acts as the Quality department's point of contact for the multidisciplinary team assembled for the both Bariatric and other clinical programs.
  • Strong Educator: Assists with the development and implementation of policies, procedures, corrective action plans, and quality improvement activities as directed. Maintains relevant policies and procedures.
  • Technical Familiarity: Functions as the Surgical Clinical Reviewer (the "SCR") for MBSAQIP. Manages the accreditation process and ensures continuous compliance with MBSAQIP and Joint Commission requirements. Tracks and manages outcomes-based data for the practice. As needed, works closely with the MBS Clinical Coordinator to assure timely submission of outcomes data.
  • Active Teamwork: Works closely with the members of the Department of Surgery to identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement.


Requirements :
  • Current MA Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an NLN accredited school required
  • Three (3) to five (5) years' nursing experience
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible data management experience
  • Knowledge of continuous quality improvement tools and techniques and demonstrated past experience in leading, facilitating, and coaching multidisciplinary teams in successfully improving processes


Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge and experience in Bariatric surgical patient care preferred.
  • Midas experience preferred.
