Summary:
The technician is part of the team that provides patient care to
people undergoing chronic hemodialysis treatment due to renal
failure. In addition to managing equipment, other duties include
monitoring patient status and providing general medical assistance.
The hemodialysis setting is a highly invasive and specialized
patient care environment, and you serve multiple roles as a
certified clinical hemodialysis technician. Working closely with
RNs and other medical professionals, you deliver quality patient
care to patients who require dialysis treatments. Your other duties
include equipment maintenance and repair, dialyzer reprocessing,
and the documentation of care provided. You initiate and
discontinue hemodialysis treatments, as well as obtain blood
samples and monitor vital signs. Your responsibilities for
equipment management include programming, cleaning, and monitoring
the hemodialysis machines. With an in-depth understanding of the
facility's water treatment system, you watch this system closely as
part of patient safety.
Job Requirements:
1) Assembling the dialysis machine and ensuring its proper
performance
2) Monitoring patients undergoing dialysis treatment
3) Ensuring that the usage of the dialysis machine is safe and
secure---------------
4) Assisting with the timely transport of patients and supplies
(e.g., blood products)
5) Monitoring and adjusting patient fluid removal rates as
required
6) Coordination of patient care via working in tandem with nurses
and providers
7) Ensuring the sterilization of operating equipment before use
8) Responding to emergency scenarios
9) Attending to patient needs (emotional and physical) and timely
transport
10) Educating patients on health maintenance and care
11) Developing operational training material for staff
12) Main R/O water testing as requested
13) Dialysis machine and HD bay disinfection
14) Vinegar/bleach of machines
15) Stocking and ordering as needed
16) Organize and clean unit
17) Monitor regulatory requirements as requested (TB room, Phoenix
meter, etc.)
Minimally Required Experience:
Accreditation from a dialysis technician program
