Description:Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities of this job are included but not limited to this job description - other tasks may be assigned and expected to be performed.Alter and repair a variety of carbide & regular tool production tools and dies, involving blanking, piercing, forming, and cut-off dies, multi cavity dies, and related stacking chute, guides, rails, and pusher components, etc., where design and specifications are usually available. Work from prints, sketches, specifications, and general instructions of the departmental foreman or group leader.Maintain accurate relationships, fittings, and interchangeability of parts to close tolerances. Disassemble and repair or alter tooling to meet specific requirements. Remove removable sections, fit, assemble and adjust component parts and mechanisms to required accuracy to insure satisfactory results. Recognize and report for correction, errors in prints, specifications or materials which would prevent economical production. Make necessary calculations, select allowances for spring, shrinkage, lapping, grinding, scrapping, fitting and finishing.Work involves difficult machining operations, using surface grinders, NC surface grinders, OD grinders, ID grinders, and honing machine, on carbide and regular tool steel parts, requiring various set-ups and methods to maintain close tolerances; skilled bench work operations requiring a knowledge of mechanisms and ability to use a wide variety of precision measuring instruments and tools. Perform a sequence of work, making correct decisions to insure satisfactory results.Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow standard safety regulations. Detect faulty operation or defective material and report these and other unusual conditions to superior.
