Employment Type:Full timeShift:Day ShiftDescription:Mercy Medical Center is looking for a Referrals Representative to join our Radiology team. We are a member of Trinity Health Of New England family bringing compassionate care to our communities.Position PurposeThe Referral Representative is responsible for providing a variety of support services which are essential to the efficient operation of the health centers' centralized referral process. Works closely with the clinical department staff as well as the business services staff in the performance of various dutiesWhat you will do

• Assists all internal and external customers by offering guidance and support for referral related questions, process and problems
• Processes all referrals received via the Web, telephone or appropriate payer specific paperwork
• Ensures that an accurate, timely referral is processed and documented in accordance to department guidelines
• Ensures that patients receive timely and courteous communications as to the completion of their external referral and associated appointment specifics
• Documents the status of the referral as well as the authorization detail in the referral and/or Telephone encounter as appropriate following departmental guidelinesMinimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience within a medical office or billing department preferred
  • Medical terminology preferred and knowledge of patient billing preferred
  • Adheres to all HIPAA privacy and security policies and practices.
