Position DescriptionJob Summary: The Construction Controller is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting and financial functions of the Company's paving and precast construction operations with a focus on job costing and work in-process analysis and reporting.Essential Functions: Supervise Construction AccountantOversee and manage construction-related general ledger accounts, fixed assets, Income Statements and key Balance Sheet components including reconciliations, journal entries, machinery and equipment inventories, and related activities. Build appropriate controls, processes, and enhancements.Oversee the monthly job cost report process with Project Managers for use in creating and updating contract schedules and updated work-in-progress reports for internal and external useEnsure all monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines for construction-related accounting and financial reports are properly prepared and analyzedOversee preparation of monthly variance analysis of actual operating results versus budgeted amountsPrepare required work papers for annual auditParticipate and generate reporting for the annual budgeting and forecasting process for construction-related revenue, expenses, and capital expendituresDrive improvement in business performance through effective cost control, monitoring, and reporting systems with particular emphasis on profitability and cash flowAssist in the continuous improvement of all financial systems and procedures and implement changes and improvements to increase accuracy, control, and timely reporting utilizing the recently implemented ERP system; go-to expert on Vista/Viewpoint and other construction-related modulesIn conjunction with Divisional Management, work with various local paving operational management to standardize financial operating policies & procedures and document/implement accordinglyDrive and support compliance and ethical processes and behaviors throughout the business Position RequirementsRequirements:A Bachelor's degree with a concentration in AccountingWorking knowledge of Vista/Viewpoint software application, preferredAdvanced Excel skills required; knowledge of Tableau and Crystal Report, a plusA minimum of seven (7) years of accounting experience with at least five (5) years of experience in a construction or manufacturing environmentStrong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, conventions, and standardsOrganized and ability to read, analyze, and process complex financial statements and documentsExperience managing othersExcellent interpersonal, written, and verbal English communication and presentation skillsLegal right to work in the U.
