Job Summary:
The Construction Controller is responsible for overseeing the
day-to-day accounting and financial functions of the Company's
paving and precast construction operations with a focus on job
costing and work in-process analysis and reporting.
Essential Functions:
1. Ownership and Caring. Supervise Construction Accountant.
2. ? Integrity. ? Oversee and manage construction-related general
ledger accounts, fixed assets, Income Statements and key Balance
Sheet components including reconciliations, journal entries,
machinery and equipment inventories, other related activities, and
build appropriate controls, processes, and enhancements.
3. Oversee the monthly job cost report process with Project
Managers for use in creating and updating contract schedules and
updated work-in-progress reports for internal and external use.
4. Mastery. Ensure all monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines for
construction-related accounting and financial reports are properly
prepared and analyzed.
5. Oversee preparation of monthly variance analysis of actual
operating results versus budgeted amounts.
6. Prepare required work papers for annual audit.
7. Participate and generates reporting for the annual budgeting and
forecasting process for construction related revenue, expenses, and
capital expenditures.
8. Results Matter. Drive improvement in business performance
through effective cost control, monitoring, and reporting systems
with particular emphasis on profitability and cash flow.
9. Compulsive Tinkering. Assist in the continuous improvement of
all financial systems and procedures and implements changes and
improvements to increase accuracy, control, and timely reporting
utilizing the recently implemented ERP system; go-to expert on
Vista/Viewpoint and other construction-related modules.
10. Respect and Engage. In conjunction with Divisional Management,
work with various local paving operational management to
standardize financial operating policies & procedures and
document/implement accordingly.
11. Drive and support compliance and ethical processes and
behaviors throughout the business.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Accounting
Working knowledge of Vista/Viewpoint software application,
preferred
Advanced Excel skills required; knowledge of Tableau and Crystal
Report, a plus
A minimum of seven (7) years of accounting experience with at least
five (5) years of experience in a construction or manufacturing
environment
Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles,
conventions, and standards
Organized and ability to read, analyze, and process complex
financial statements and documents
Experience managing others
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal English communication
and presentation skills
Legal right to work in the U. S.

Travel:
Position requires up to 15% local travel via personal vehicle to
offices throughout the states of New York, Vermont, and
Massachusetts based on the needs of the operations and
business.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role
routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones,
photocopiers and is mostly sedentary. The ability to sit at a desk,
frequent walking, bending, or standing are necessary.
